Jingle-Jangle Time!

Saturday October 27th, 2012

WHOO! I GOT MY PARTY ON! :D How’s that for an introduction? ;)

Let us begin with the morning, shall we? There was a Rotaract meeting that I was invited to and of course, I happily wanted to attend! This meeting was more of a speech than a make-up session like last time. One of the Rotarians in my club, Uncle Kaiser, was kind enough to come and translate the Chinese and Taiwanese (Yes! Taiwanese!) into English for me. I really appreciated this because I was able to learn a little bit about the NEC company and the message included in the speech given. I traded business cards with the speaker and on his it read “NEC. Director. Vice President.” Holy crud! This guy is super high up in the business world! Amazing!

The main point of the speech was the importance of learning languages and creating a network of friendships. There was also a deep saying that was written down on the board, as shown. From what I remember, it reads along the lines of: “Use a mirror to judge, you can evaluate your clothes. Use people to judge, you can evaluate your inner self. Use history to judge, you can evaluate countries.” Gosh I really have a hard time remembering exactly what the translation was but it’s basically revolving around evaluation. Mirrors for clothes, people for yourself and history to countries. Does that make sense? I hope so. XD

After the meeting some Rotaract members went out to lunch. Twas a bit of a struggle to find a place because the first restaurant we went to turned us down because we needed a reservation. So after going back to the original meeting building to get some more people, we then headed to McDonald’s. Something-something happened and McDonald’s ended up as a no-no. Then we walked around again until we went into a smaller shop. I think it was a combined shop of both Korean food and “Austin Coffee.” I was so tempted to buy some “Austin Coffee” just because it is my home state’s capitol. XD

The lunch I ordered was something like “Korean udon noodles in a clay pot.” Seriously, that was what the written English translation said! What this clay pot contained was a bunch of various ingredients with, of course, udon noodles. Some of the ingredients were, a leafy vegetable, meat ball, beef, egg, crawfish(?) and other stuff I don’t rightly know what they are nor how to describe them. I think they were types of rice in a dough form or something. I don’t know but it was tasty! ^_^

As always, the Rotaract members were a pleasure to be around and I enjoy the time spent with them. I look forward to more Rotaract meetings and events! :D

Exiting the restaurant we came across a peculiar sight, one I have not seen in America or Spain. It was a gay parade. I should say, the meaning of ‘gay’ is not the ‘happy, cheerful’ version but rather the ‘homosexual’ version. Just to clarify. ;) I was not expecting to see something like that in Taiwan! What a strange surprise! But something that isn’t particularly PG rated was some people walking around in a minimum amount of clothing. Uh, not too fond of that. But I shan’t tread on the subject of the parade, except for pointing out one creative thing I hadn’t seen before. Do you know of the gay flag that is basically rainbow stripes? Well they took that flag and combined it with the Taiwan flag so the red part of the Taiwanese flag was rainbow stripes. Interesting but I’ll leave it at that. ;)

Meeting up with Mariko (from Colorado) we went to a yogurt shop called “Yogurt Art” to sit down, have a treat and to kill some time before our Rotary Halloween party. At that point I was dying from gravity from standing up for at least three hours in the same day with heavy bags and an aching back. Plus my tongue got slightly burned from lunch so cold refreshing yogurt was greatly prized. It was fun because I split my yogurt cup into three sections of the most basic and popular flavors: chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. Though the true names at the shop were “cable car chocolate,” “strawberry” and “country vanilla.” Now, I have no idea what ‘cable car’ means but it tasted like regular chocolate. So yummy! And for a few seconds, the “country vanilla” made me feel as if I was sitting in a wooden rocking chair on a countryside porch in Louisiana. Oh it was wonderful! I nearly went for a second cup! XD FYI, the price system was based upon weight just like in America, if you’re curious :P

Next was to change into Halloween costumes! Since we couldn’t find a nearby restaurant to dash into the restroom, we had to go into the crowded MTR bathroom. Oh dear. Not only was it super busy but of course it created an opportunity for numerous people to stare at dressed up foreigners. And it was one thing to see foreigners in costumes, but it was a totally different thing to HEAR a foreigner dressed up. Who is the foreigner I’m referring to? … *points to self*

That’s right! I JINGLED! I jingled up a storm! The belly-dancing outfit Brittany lent me was the kind with the dangling coins that jingle as you move. So every step I took resounded a rattle of coins into the surrounding environment. Did I get a lot of stares? Of course! I won’t expect anything less. The worry in the back of my mind was running into some high-end Rotarians, teachers, classmates or even my husband (who apparently lives around the MTR station we had to meet at)! Nothing of the sort happened though. Phew! ^_^

I bet you want to see some pictures, am I right? ;) Ok but I warn you, I am not responsible if any of your eyes start bleeding from the sight of me. :P

First up is Mariko and I, both in belly-dancer outfits! Though Mariko looked a bit more like a flamenco dancer. XD Her mask and foofy feather was so pretty! It made my fingers itch to craft an inspired leather mask. :P Mariko also borrowed her costume from Brittany, thank goodness for her charity in lending us the clothing! The belt/sash Mariko had was just of soundless, swishy tassels. It was my belt/sash that was the most fun! Seriously, JINGLES PEOPLE! THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN! :D

Next is Mariko again with Brittany in her dancer outfit. Two great buds right here! :D

Onto the Rotary Halloween Party! It was basically broken up into two parts: costume contest and dance party, with food and drink on the side. The costume contest was each exchange student doing a catwalk to the judges, pose, then walk away and pose one last time. As per ususal, I was the first one to go because I’m always at the top of the list of fifty exchange students. ALWAYS! I seriously can’t figure out why because alphabetically of either name or country doesn’t quite fit the order. Regardless, I went up first and decided to go along with the theme of my costume. Andrea was belly dancing! XD Oh my gosh! According to Brittany whose been taking belly-dancing classes, I did a bang on job! She actually attacked me later because she got playfully angry that I so easily caught onto some belly-dancing moves that took her awhile to learn. Sorry Brittany. :P

So here’s most of the different exchange student costumes! :D

This dude, Zach from the USA, dressed up as a ‘skitsifrentic’ janitor. I have no idea how to spell that condition but I tried my best. XD He was so great throughout the night! Every single time a soda bottle exploded, which it did quite frequently, he would cutely rush to the mess and clean it up with his towel. If there was any trash on the floor, he would sweep it up. He also had a toilet plunger but I don’t think he went that far in his costume. XD What was really adorable was during the dance party where he continued to clean but did cute little dances at the same time. Major kudos to Zach!

Church buddies! :D From left to right we have, Will of The Netherlands, Elisabeth of Germany and Erin of Canada! Pirates vs. Ninjas, GO! I loved Will’s pirate outfit and it was hilarious what the ninjas used for facemasks. The black facemasks are the kind you use in Taiwan if you are sick or want to prevent catching any diseases. Seemed quite fitting since we’re in Taiwan! XD

This chica went the creative route and dressed normally with a sign that reads “Poor Exchange Student. Help me!!” The reason is our Rotary allowance really doesn’t allow any extra room to cover expenses like purchasing or renting a costume. For the Rotary Halloween Party it was required to have a costume but many students had trouble fitting it into their allowance. I am one of them. That’s why I’m just so thankful to Brittany for lending me such a fun and charming outfit for free!

Oh gosh! This guy played his character a little too well! With a rotting, bloody facemask, matching hands, a bloodstained shirt and a dead intimidating personality, I kept my distance from the zombie. XD He actually won first place in the costume contest. Good for him! He sure was scary enough!

美國人!(American!) Armed with an axe and killer mask, it was entertaining to watch him attempt to drink the beverage through the small holes. He wasn’t too successful. XD

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear. We have a Hungarian and German that are a little too confident with their bodies. XD I applauded the Germany (right one) for having “Oregon” printed on his cheerleading outfit. 美國! (America!) But it was only after going through my pictures that I noticed the Hungarian had “Clark” displayed on his padded chest. Yes, he padded it. Dear Lord help us all! XD But remember that my last name is “Clark.” So when I look at this picture, I am filled with pride in seeing it. Yet at the same time I am slightly disturbed. XD At least he’s wearing my family name with pride and poise. :P

Oh look, more guys with a large amount of self-esteem regarding their bodies. XD I just want to point out Zach in the back. He’s still going at his self-appointed cleaning duty! What dedication! Seriously, give this guy some physical Kudos candy bars!

A cute pumpkin, a dead zombie and a feminine Super Man. Interesting combo, no?

A Slovakian girl (left) and a Mexican chica (right). I’m not sure what they dressed as but they had cool make-up designs on their necks! Both are indeed very pretty!

Ninja time! Ninjas in heels no less! XD

Mariko and Mika! Mika is dressed in a traditional Korean outfit she rented. She’s so adorable in it! ^_^ And of course Mariko looks stunning as well!

Two Japanese girls dressed in traditional Chinese dresses. They’re so beautiful!

Next up, 兩個法國人! (Two French people) Yes, I’m having fun practicing typing in traditional Chinese characters! ^_^ The chico and chica don’t really match at all but they nonetheless had fun on the catwalk as the boy tried to leap into the girl’s arms. It ended in Luigi falling on his bum. XD

Rotex time! They are the ones who were in charge of the party as well as the costume contest judges.

AAAAAAAAH! Too scary! That mask is way creepy! Yet Mika is merrily laughing up a storm! Once the guy, Maxime from Belgium, noticed my slight squeamishness in regards to his costume/demeanor, he decided to use it against me. The outcome was me running/jingling away for dear life as he played a murderous psychopath a little too well. It was frightening I tell you!

Belly-dancing Andrea! Do I look the part? I sure felt like it! The jingles made me way too happy and eager to begin the dance party!

Group picture! Three dancers, one traditional Korean and a non-masked Belgian murderer. I think I prefer Maxime without his mask. ^_^

Realizing that the skirt I was wearing had a lot of cloth, the need to twirl around appeared and had to be fulfilled! ;D

One last picture of belly-dancing Andrea before the dance party started.

And on that subject, YEEEEEEEESSSSSSS! I’ve been craving to go out and dance! The songs played were all English except for one world famous Korean song that is played EVERYWHERE in Taiwan. “Gangnam Style,” anyone? I sorta wished they would’ve played some Korean pop songs since some are great dancing songs but sadly no. Ah heck, I’ll get my chance later. ;) Actually it might have been a good thing because it was difficult for me to pop dance in a belly-dancing outfit. When you’re in that sort of clothing, you tend to want to dance in the style that matches. And that’s just what I did! It was funny because some people actually thought I knew belly-dancing! Score! Point for Andrea! ;D The best part of wearing a jingle-jangle sash was performing a certain move of quickly shaking only your hips, causing an encore of rattling. When I did that move to match escalating parts of songs, I could always derive an amazed gasp from other peeps. It was WAY too much FUN! :D

When the last song played and I came across a man that I didn’t know, perhaps a Rotex or the DJ or something to do with being in charge of the party. Either way he made a quite amusing comment. He said that during the songs, he would listen for the jingling of my coin sash from across the room. Ahahaha! I didn’t know the jingling was that prominent! It just goes to show the power of hips equipped with dangling coins! >:D

And so ended an entertaining, delightful night of partying! I’m not going to lie, I actually am very interested in pursuing the art of the jingle-jangle hips! Not only is it ridiculously fun to rattle around the room but it is a terrific form of exercise as it triggers so many muscles! We’ll just have to see. ;)

Early Happy Halloween everybody! And with that, I bid y’all a fond farewell! Take care now! ^_^

0.5" BUG OF DEATH!

Friday October 26th, 2012

Another bright and promising day! Onward!

Before descending down into the underground cafeteria at Tatung High School I like going to, I noticed a poster on the wall. This is for my Sengoku Basara friends again (feel free to skip this paragraph if you don’t know what I’m talking about). Remember yesterday’s “Are You Ready?” poster I connected to Date Masamune? Well this poster just gives me more reason to make that reference because the color choice totally fits our dear One-Eyed Dragon. So when you add on the “Let’s go shopping!” what picture is painted in your mind? I see Date riding his motorcycle horse with over flowing shopping bags dangling from his arms as he sits with them crossed over his chest. They are all violently bouncing with the horse’s gate as Date steers it to the next mall. Kojuro acts as the pack mule and advisor who begs Date to stop spending so much money. That’s what I got from the poster! Share with me your creative minds! :D

BREAKFAST! Feeling particularly hungry, I decided to try something very Taiwanese and have a hamburger for breakfast. That’s a difference between the cultures of American and Taiwan. In America we usually have burgers for lunch or dinner but in Taiwan it is more common to eat burgers for breakfast. So at my favorite breakfast shop, being cheerily greeted with “Good morning!” and replying “Zao an!” I ordered my beloved chicken & egg burger. That being combined with banana milk, it hit the spot just right. 我喜歡!Do you remember what those characters mean? If you did, that would be outright astounding! XD They mean “I like!”

Here’s a snapshot of the place I go to every high school morning for breakfast and some Wi-Fi. That little table with two chairs is where I always sit, specifically the closest one. There is a bigger table in the back but it’s hidden from view here. In the background is the teahouse I enjoy going to but it’s not yet opened for the day. There’s a single man in a white shirt that opens up shop, only later to be joined by more employees for lunch rush. I like being a regular customer here as I’m practicing my Chinese beverage vocabulary, getting tasty drinks and racking up drink points. (You get 1 point for every drink you purchase and collecting 10 will get you a free drink.) Me gusta!

The same girl from yesterday still was asking if she could cut my hair. I still kept on saying “我不要 !” (I don’t want!) but she just doesn’t give in!

An update on my seat buddy, I still am getting a “zao an” out of him but this morning a laugh accompanied his speech. I think he finds it amusing I say good morning to him. Perhaps it’s not normal in Taiwan to say “zao an.” I’m not sure but I would like to find out!

In class today, some students behind me were getting all skittish and frantic, emitting squeaks and flailing around. I didn’t know what was going on until a little black grain of rice hopped onto the ground next to me. The student parallel to me got a crafting knife and started stabbing the rice. I was so confused as to why he needed to do so to this little black thing. Then I figured it out. It was a wee little bug less than half an inch. Now this wee little bug made the whole room go into an uproar, totally interrupting class and making a guy who wants to seem older turn into a little girl who can’t stand bugs. Ok, I’m not fond of bugs and am terrified of one certain type (I shan’t reveal which one in fear that it’ll be used against me :P) but seriously? A bug that small is barely even noticeable much less lacking a reason to be afraid of it. At first I thought maybe the bug was poisonous and that’s why people got so jittery from it but nope, it was an ordinary harmless bug. Wow. I felt like a cowgirl from the country where a bug that small is nothing. The bug actually flew onto my schoolbag, which I merely looked for before it jumped off, causing an upheaval with the students surrounding it. The incidence was quite amusing to watch I’ll admit. It was a fun break from class. :P

For lunch I dropped by the buffet line in the underground cafeteria. There I got a bunch of tasty food like vegetables, tofu, chicken, egg and the curious purple rice! Looking closer, there’s both black and brown grains sporadically within the purple rice. Does anyone know what this type of rice is called in English? Either way, it’s pretty good. I expected the chicken to be just like the Chinese chicken you can find at a normal Chinese restaurant in America. So biting into it I felt a slight crunch. Thinking this was a pleasant surprise crunch of the breaded part of the chicken, I bit down harder. Bad idea! The chicken still had the bones included! I am not used to that at all! I learned my lesson, don’t let your guard down when it comes to chicken bones in Taiwan! XD

Following naptime was Civics class where I had to do my weekly global news. Today I chose to do something that I could get the class involved in, like a socratic seminar rather than just reporting random news. The subject I spoke of was over whether or not to drill for oil. I gave the example of a barren part of Alaska that has no animals or people to harm but still gets hammered with environmentalists refusing to let people drill there. Then I told of off the coast of Texas where we could drill in the ocean but would have a risk of damaging the waters and sea life. In order to demonstrate where these places were in America, I drew an extremely general picture of the USA. It’s harder to write with chalk that I thought! Feel free to laugh at its terribleness. :P

I asked the class who would want to drill in Alaska where it was a barren land with no life forms to harm. Not everyone answered but for those who did, I got 14 ‘yes’ and 4 ‘no.’ In regards to drilling within the Gulf of Mexico the answered totally flip flopped to 5 ‘yes’ and 14 ‘no.’ I find those results quite interesting! That would make a fun educated discussion if I could speak Chinese better! But overall I think my weekly news was pretty successful. Yay!

I forgot to mention something that my history teacher told me yesterday. She asked me what was the hardest thing about learning Mandarin. I replied with “all the different tones.” But then she commented that English also had tones within the language. I did a double take on that one, replying that I knew nothing of the sort for the English language. She said that apparently within the English textbooks students have, there are different tones for certain English words. WHAT?! When did this happen? I’m 99.9% sure English doesn’t have any tones. We just have complicated grammar. XD

With words that I’m pretty sure doesn’t have any sort of tone assigned to it, good luck and good night! :D Taffy fin!

Test, Eric, and ZOMG IT CAME!

Thursday October 25, 2012

ARE YOU READY TO TAFFY?! :D This is gonna be a good one! ;D

Our day starts with University and the slightly intimidating Mid-term Exam. This was the biggest exam we’ve ever had to this date. I studied quite a bit from every angle I could think of when it comes to knowing Chinese characters, their tone, their pinyin, their grammar placement, etc. So, do you think I did well or not so hot? Come up with a score you think I got, a hundred being the highest. I’ll give you a minute/paragraph spacing to contemplate it.

Do you have an answer? Did anyone think dear Andrea failed? Any answers of barely passing? I see a few people went for an “A” or “B.” Would you like to see my score?

BOOMSHAKALAKA! TAKE THAT CHINESE EXAM! I WHOOPED YOUR BUTT TO KINGDOM COME! >:D AHAHAHAHA I AM HAPPY! In my opinion, I definitely needed to treat myself to something because of this feat! A 100, people! 100! A PERFECT SCORE! If you can’t tell already, I’m still really proud of this accomplishment! ^_^

Allow me to get side tracked for a paragraph. Where are my Sengoku Basara fans at? I saw this sign on my high school campus and couldn’t help but tack on “guys?!” Then my mind continued the exclamation with “Put your guns on!” Please tell me I’m not the only one who derives a squeal from the sign because of this. :P

Back to the main plot line! So remember how I just said I thought to treat myself for my Mid-Term Exam triumph? I didn’t have to go far at all! When I arrived at Tatung to sign in, I came across Redy who was smiling quite a bit. It made me suspicious as to what was going on. Her cheerful mood was derived from a surprise she had for me. It was a brown box behind her desk. A brown box with the words “Priority Mail” …and “Airmail” and… “United States Postal Service.” OH HOLY CRUD THE PACKAGE CAME ALREADY! OH MY GOSH! HAPPINESS! :D

My wonderful American family sent me a care package of things I needed that Taiwan doesn’t have. I don’t understand about mailing packages to Taiwan but it’s not as simple as in America. At my first host family’s apartment address there’s no place to receive packages, only letters. So Redy was kind enough to let me use her address to have the care package shipped to that could accept boxes. According to my father back in Texas, the package was supposed to arrive anywhere from October 24th-30th so I wasn’t expecting it for another week. But Redy said the box reached her house on the 24th which allowed her to bring it to school on the 25th. Wow! What fantastic shipping estimate time! Kudos to the postal service!

I made a trade-off with Redy that if she allowed me to use her address to have the box shipped to, my family would include some Aveeno lotion she liked so much. A friend of Redy’s that went abroad came back and gave her some Aveeno lotion that Redy loved. Unfortunately her bottle was running low and Taiwan doesn’t seem to have any Aveeno brand stuff. I’m guessing Aveeno is an American brand that’s only in America? Maybe? Not really sure. Regardless, my dear Texas family did indeed put some Aveeno in. Though the phrase “some Aveeno” should be changed to “A BOMBARDMENT OF AVEENO!” XD With a flood of tiny tubes and the ace of a full sized tube, Redy was very happy with the amount of lotion as you can tell by her lovely smile. A shout out to my Texas family, Redy says “THANK YOU!” :D

I’ll postpone my personal shout out until later because I actually didn’t dig through the entire care package until I got home. So hang on till then! ;D

Getting to Tatung was a bit of a dash because I needed to be there at 12:00 for a lunch with the exchange students and Redy. This was to be our last lunch together with Erik. It is very sad to think about it but it is best not to dwell on such thoughts. So instead we spent our time merrily laughing and chit-chatting about thing here and there. Photo time was involved as well!

Starting out our lunchtime together we had, well, lunch! I tried something different today but buying food at “Hi-Life” which is a convenient store on Tatung school campus. Convenient stores like “Hi-Life” and “7-Eleven” on school campuses will give out student discounts, which is very wonderful! Though, half of the things I buy are fruit and never end up having the discount. XD Oh well! Today I tried getting an appetizing looking sandwich and a beverage I’ve had my eye on for over a month.

The taste test? OH! I felt like I was in a “Subway” back in America for a spilt second! The sandwich had a delightful filling of lettuce, chicken, cucumber and a little sauce. So yummy! The drink of “Bubble Black Tea” was also very tasty but I think it’s a little too sugary. I couldn’t really taste the tea, only the sugar. I’m happy to have tried it and know it is at least a tasty beverage. ^_^

Moving away from food and onto people! That can only mean picture time! :D

The star of the lunchtime! Yes, this is the type of person Erik can be, playful and humorous!

Erik and Redy in a normal pose. Two beautiful, kind people! ^_^

The two paired up exchange students in the same classroom. Sweden and America unite! I’ll miss having is tall, blonde self, attracting Taiwanese student screams of “ERIKKKKKK!” in the hallway. XD He was a great classroom partner and shall be missed!

Funny pose time! We had to coax Erik to doing a cute Taiwanese style pose. It took a bit but it was a SUCCESS! :D

Taiwanese style comical pose part 2! Everyone imitate a blowfish now! XD

And last but not least, a final group photo! Unfortunately Mary Lou (from Mexico) wasn’t there today because she had a Rotary meeting. But thankfully everyone else could make the last lunch with Erik! In this picture, for some reason Erik thought something was wrong and began to stare and put down his peace signs. Rats! Even so, it is a great picture together! Buddies forever!

As the bell signaled the need to get back to class, we all exchanged our farewells. Hugs were bestowed upon Erik and well wishes with his flight this Friday. Let’s keep him in our prayers for a safe flight and adjustment back to Sweden! ^_^

School life continued as I battled fighting off urges to sleep in class. Missing naptime is always a blow to my ability to stay focused. It just goes to show how much I’ve adjusted to Taiwanese lifestyle, forming the need to nap like the other students! XD

A girl classmate came up to me today and expressed the want to cut my hair. Now for those who know me, I’ll let you imagine how wide my eyes got at this desire. And the girl spoke her desire as if she would seriously just come up behind me and chop off my hair. No joke, I thought she was being genuine. Even though I said “我不要” (I don’t want) she still kept on insisting. In fear that she would actually commit murder to my life long friend, I overcame the apparent language barrier and jokingly dragged my thumb across my throat making a “Hckkkk” sound. It seemed to work because she retreated back to her own desk. Of course I was joking with my mime but I can’t guarantee anyone’s safety if they erratically decide to sever my beloved hair without permission (which they shall never EVER have). ;P

MARTIAL ARTS CLUB TODAY! :D We did our usually warm-ups/exercises with a bit of learning some more of the routine we were previously taught a part of. But today at a surprise appearance of something fuzzy, sparkley and winks at you! Can you guess what traditional Chinese culture I’m referring to? It’s a dance…of an animal…the animal goes “RWAR!” Once last hint for the animal…Simba… YEP! It’s the lion dance everyone! :D HOW COOL IS THAT?! Not only do I learn some kung-fu but a bit of other Chinese culture is thrown in as well! AND IT WAS SO BRILLIANT! I thoroughly enjoyed the time being part of the lion costume our master brought! Both the front legs/head and the back legs were SO MUCH FUN! The lion head is kinda difficult to operate as you have to remain conscious of your feet, hands, lion head placement, control of the lion’s mouth and the eyes. It sure takes a lot of thought and exaggerated movements to make the lion more dynamic!

Since I was kid it seemed that the being the back legs was the un-fun part because you have to bend over so much in order to made the dragon’s back flat and not a hump. Was it un-fun? Heck no! IT WAS SUPER FUN! Sure the leg lifting gets hard when your bent over but swishing your behind around and making the lion look as if its tail was wagging was so cool! Gosh darn it, now I want to learn how to do lion dances! Anyone in Texas want to be my partner and find a lion costume somewhere over the rainbow when I return? :P

So after a quite pleasurable martial arts club (it’s always a pleasure!) twas off to the MTR! In my hands was bulging an excellent and substantial box of ‘I-can’t-wait-to-dive-into-its-contents!’ Therefore the usual looks I get from being a foreigner were amplified as I carried this great big package. XD So much so that three school guys physically pointed directly at me and my box through closed MTR doors. Honestly I don’t know what captured their interest more, the box or me. And no, you don’t often see people carrying around big mail packages on the subway so that’s why I was a sight to see!

CARE PACKAGE TIME! No I shall not show you every little thing inside (must you know everything? I think not :P) but I’ll give you some of the leading impressions! ;D

Opening the box, without even touching anything, the aura of America just whooshed over me and I staggered for a second. XD I felt the love and support of my Texas family instantly and was already merry enough from just that! And just because I’m paranoid and the Internet is scary, I edited out the two addresses present on the box cover. :P But it doesn’t at all take away from the happiness that is radiating off me!

HAND SANITIZER! This stuff is great for when using on the subway or bus! And it’s the wonderful sweet scented kind! LOVE! :D

Christian music surplus! I’ve been so looking forward for these wonderful CDs! Seriously, these things are lifesavers and such an unending joy to listen to!

Now I’ve had difficultly finding peanut bars in Taiwan much less peanuts in general that aren’t ridiculously expensive. I should also note that I always ate Nature Valley Peanut/Cashew bars for every school lunch and even in the summer. So it goes without saying, I really really reeeeeeeally love these things! So spending two months without a single morsel of its taste and then receiving my care package contents…this resulted!

TWENTY-FOUR OF THESE SCRUMPTIOUS BARS! OH MY GOSH! I LOVE YOU MOM AND DAD! Look! You can just see my face turning red from excitement! How could I not be uber excited?! It’s a hail of yumminess!

I should be paid for this advertisement! XD The dress/apron/clothing of some sort of Nature Valley bars just makes me way too jolly! I couldn’t resist doing pictures with wearing these delicious healthy treats! Don’t we look like a tasty match made in heaven? XD

Of course, the twenty-four bars I had dwindled down to twenty-three, nearly twenty-two without me reining myself back like mad. XD It salty sweetness of the granola bar was oh so satisfying! The cashew butter coating made me fall into my chair and the sudden blast of cashews just created a mini paradise! You know those ‘Almond Joy’ commercials that’s along the lines of ‘open your paradise.’ It’s these nut bars here that do it for me. ^_^

Time for my shout out! THANK YOU MOM AND DAD! 謝謝你!I appreciate all your support and love! Thank you for your affectionate provision with sending me a care package of marvelous stuff! I virtually shower you in hugs and kisses from Taiwan. :D I love y’all!

In conclusion, today was a fantastic Taffy installment! Andrea is ecstatic she has physical proof of her Mandarin learning efforts. She wants to get a traditional Chinese lion costume and learn the dance with a partner. Aaaaaaand…* mimcs ‘Peanut Butter Jelly Time’ song * IT’S PEANUT AND CASHEW TIME! PEANUT AND CASHEW TIME! XD See y’all next time! Peace out! :D
